This is already the Caribbean destination for dancing, drinking, and partying from Sunday to Sunday. Take a trip there any time of year and you’ll be greeted by a downtown full of pulsing nightlife, complete with flowing drinks and a beachfront dance floor.
This Year's Playa del Carmen BPM
But schedule your trip for January 6-15, 2017 and you’re in for Playa’s biggest party: the tenth annual BPM Festival.
Every year, DJ’s and music lovers flock to Playa for its wildly popular electronic dance music festival. The event temporarily dominates nine of Playa’s top clubs from 10am to 2am for a full ten days, offering the perfect party (and the perfect backdrop) for kicking off the year.
Last year saw BPM’s biggest year to date, with over 430 artists performing and over 70,000 attendees. Sound big? Founders Craig Pettigrew and Phillip Anthony Politano are promising BPM 2017 will be even bigger.
BPM 2017 Festival
This marks the festival’s ten-year anniversary, so organizers are stepping up their game to promise their most explosive celebration yet—and this is coming from guys who know how to party.
Founded by two Canadian nightclub promoters in 2008, BPM has quickly grown to attract both performers and attendees from all over the world. And with such a loyal following they regular pack Playa’s top clubs, including Blue Parrot, Tribeca, Jungle, and Santana.
This year’s line-up hasn’t been announced yet, but a quick look at last year’s lineup gets the idea across; think of DJ’s like tINI & the Gang (Ibiza regulars), Pete Tong (of BBC Radio 1 fame), MK (Marc Kinchen), Nicole Moudaber, and UK newcomers Gorgon City.
And the perks of buying your tickets for year 10?
According to the festival’s Facebook page, attendees can look forward to “surprise pop-up” parties, new material debuting live, new headliners, “unexpected back to back sets, and long awaited reunions.” For a festival that’s already made a name for itself internationally, BPM 2017 is going above and beyond.
BPM 2017 will run from January 6-15, with events scheduled from 10am until 2am. If you’re up for the full ten days, BPM offers a week pass that includes entry to all events, re-entry, and discounts at over 125 local stores and restaurants.
For the less ambitious, BPM offers a 7-day wristband and 3-day wristbands with all the same perks. Choose between a ticket for January 9-15, for the January 6-8 opening weekend, or for the January 13-15 closing weekend.
Your best bet is to buy your ticket ahead of time. Event staff takes their ticketing policy seriously, so you don’t want to be stuck with a scalped ticket that the door guys won’t accept. BPM is bigger and better every year, and it all happens on the picturesque oceanfront streets of Playa del Carmen. Playa is usually hot and dry in January, but the party goes on in the rain or shine, so be sure to prepare for both. Pack your bag with plenty of sunscreens, a light jacket, dancing shoes, and your best point-and-shoot camera and get ready for an unforgettable vacation. Playa isn't short of party and nightlife and you are in for a treat.Buy Cancun Airport - Playa Shuttle
